We specialize in delivering fun and professional cricket camps led by a team of experienced coaches. The courses run from 10am-3pm, though parents are welcome to drop cricketers off from 9.15am at no extra-charge. Soft Ball cricketers of all levels are welcome, with sessions grouped by both age and ability. We have a good ratio of coaches to cricketers.
The Gecko soft ball course caters for cricketers who are either taking their first steps in the sport or who have not developed the confidence yet to take on hard ball.
The only equipment needed to take part in this course is a cricket bat. We encourage all participants to bring their own. Should you not have your own equipment, we recommend that parents inform us prior to the course so that arrangements can be made.
There is no dress code, however cricketers are encouraged to come in comfortable clothing they can be active in. Gecko will have a limited supply of whites and training shirts for sale at the course.
A packed lunch will be required with enough food to nourish the hard working cricketers throughout the day. The packed lunch must include a refillable water bottle. The coach leading the course must be made aware of any food allergies.
Cricketers will need to be prepared for whatever weather conditions on the day. The coaches will have spare sun cream but we recommend bringing a hat. In the event of wet or cold weather, we advise you bring a coat and dry clothes to change into. Gecko has a number of wet weather procedures in place should the course experience inclement weather ranging from fielding games, incredi-ball tournaments, tactical time outs and cricket quizzes to name a few.
All basic cricket coaching will be covered on the course throughout the three disciplines batting, bowling and fielding. Gecko has come up with a unique coaching model that includes the facilitation of learning through conditioned games that stimulate the tactical element of the sport as well as the technical. Coaches will spend time breaking down what should be learn’t during these games and how it could be applied to a soft ball cricket match.
Our coaching team includes an ex-international, an U19 World Cup winner, a former county cricketer, as well as several minor county and academy players. Our coaches have all played at a high standard and are ECB qualified coaches, first aid trained, DBS checked, and have attended safeguarding children courses (as a minimum).
Cricketers from all schools and cricket clubs are welcome.
