Every year GECKO work tirelessly to put on as much cricket as possible during the off-season. This winter has been no different.
The fantastic facilities at Rendcomb College have been further improved with the installation of a brand new, double net system which allows for complete customisation of all our GECKO sessions. After securing the state of the art sports hall as our primary venue, we have hosted weekly cricket courses, Masterclasses and One to One sessions.
In September we have taken on 3 new coaches as part of our expansion program at GECKO. Oli Thornley, Kieran Kelly and Ben Trass joined the team with the more familiar Ryan Higgins and Bruce Ballance. All with excellent cricketing history having represented the county in the junior age groups they continue to not only to love coaching but playing the game at a high level. In addition to the cricket, Kieran Kelly adds to our International experience on the coaching team travelling to Samoa for the England u18s rugby 7s tournament. Please feel free to come and meet the new additions to the team before or after our sessions, and take a look at their One to One slots which range in price.
In October we were lucky enough to have Yorkshire and England cricketer Gary Ballance join us for 8 hours of coaching. His presence was not only inspirational but extremely informative for us and we hope that Gary will join us at GECKO more often in the future.
Since his visit we are happy to say that Gary has been selected for the England tour of South Africa over Christmas, congratulations to him and best of luck from all the GECKO team!
In addition to Gary’s success we are extremely proud to say that GECKO coach Bradley Dial returned to his native South Africa to be rewarded with a professional contract, and recently posted his highest ever first class score of 94*. This professional success has come after Bradley was the top run scorer in WEPL 2 for the 2015 season. He couldn’t be there to collect the award at the dinner but the GECKO team attended on his behalf and added the trophy to our cabinet! A big well done to Brad and we will keep you updated on his progress as the season continues. We are excited to say that when Brad’s season for Gauteng is over he will be returning to the GECKO team in time for the English summer!
As well as our coaching services GECKO also provide top of the range, hand made equipment. We are proud to announce the arrival of 2 new ranges in time for the 2016 season.
The Totem and the Harlequin ranges bring the latest GECKO graphic design to the quality of willow we all know and love. Also, we have revamped and improved the Cayman range to give the extra performance we strive for at GECKO. A higher spine and thicker edges make it a more dynamic, aggressive bat choice at both junior and senior level. On top of the launch of the new ranges, we have recently acquired a brand new BOLA bowling machine worth £2000 to add to the 3 we currently use. This means we can have more batters facing more balls in our GECKO sessions. Practice makes perfect!
There is plenty to look forward to in the coming days and weeks. On Saturday 28th November GECKO turns 3. We are proud of what we have achieved but are firmly focused on the future. With this in mind we are proud and excited to announce the launch of our new website. We hope you find it easy to navigate and benefit from all the new services available on here. Any questions or queries regarding the new website please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Ryan on 07969 997 303 All feedback (positive or negative) will be greatly appreciated!
Finally, please do have a look at the GECKO courses coming up in the near future, and book online to ensure your place – they sell out fast!
That’s all for this month, we look forward to seeing you soon.
